This made the list for several reasons: first, it’s some of the most inventive cuisine in Orange County, and people who take risks and succeed ought to be lauded; second, I love to go to restaurants where I can’t replicate the food at home. Even in my most fevered state I couldn’t invent tarragon-Calvados panna cotta with chocolate soup. I cannot say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant.  Located next to the Marbella Farmers Market, this lovely, intimate bistro combines excellent, flavorful, and unique food creations with leisurely paced service –truly reminiscent of a neighborhood place in a Mediterranean village.

ndeed a hidden gem!  This menu is insane.  If you like mediterranean food, this is the place to be.  They have a good-sized tapas menu, and it was totally reasonably priced.

  1. My wife and I stopped in last week after hearing about the Bistro from friends. We were BLOWN AWAY by the creativity that we found on the menu. Incredible flavors, mouthwatering presentation and a relaxed atmosphere, all served up by the owner himself. My wife is from Italy and runs her own gourmet foods business, so she knows good food. At one point, we just sat and stared at each other while savoring a mouthful of the crispy polenta with mushrooms. We can’t wait to go back for more. Simple yet perfect wine selection. And… the prices are fair. Grab some friends and go bask in the warm glow of the Sol del Sur. Nick & Giuseppina Colucci, SJC
