Mencia Grape / Bierzo, Castilla Leon, Spain / 92 points

The Wine:...very aromatic and flowery (violets), almost heady, with clear notes of blueberries and licorice. The oak is perfectly integrated, almost imperceptible, a medium body, with a thick silky texture, is very tasty, with some acidic strawberry flavors. This could very well be the best Petalos produced to date.”

Wat – Ethiopian style Berbere spiced Beef and Red Lentils on Flat Bread

Zin – Grilled Steak with Blue Cheese and Zinfandel drizzle on Toasts

The Wine:...from high-elevation vineyards in the Costa Brava planted in granite, 100% Grenache aged 3 months in new French oak, aromas of raspberry jam, black currants, kirsch, flowers and forest floor, full body, terrific fruit, lots of complexity, and a multidimensional mouthfeel.”
