The Spanish Wines are here

To complement our Tapas, we now have a nice array of very high quality Spanish wines in house.

Available by the glass or by the bottle.

Naturally, the Tempranillo grape is represented. Often referred to as Spain’s ‘Noble Grape’, this is a black grape used to create a full-bodied red wine. Our offering hails from the ‘Ribera del Duero’ region of Spain, located in the country’s northern plateau within the autonomous community of Castile and León.

The wine is ‘Tinto Figuero’, 2006, estate bottled by Vinedos y Bodegas Garcia Figuero S.L. The wine offers a full-bodied feel with a multi-layered texture of cherries and coffee and a firm structured finish. This wine offers a perfect accompaniment to our new 16 ounce Ribeye Steak, grilled with Tasmanian Pepperberries, or any of our hearty tapas, sandwiches and entrees.

Another new red wine is the GranRojo Garnacha from Navarro Lopez. This wine is produced from 100% garnacha grapes, one of the most widely cultivated grapes in the world, providing the basis for the Spanish Rioja wines as well as the French Rhone style wines. GranRojo translates to ‘big red’, and this wine delivers on that. The GranRojo has a deep garnet purple color, spicy blueberry and black cherry jam aromas and flavors with a nice touch of slate and cedar. It finishes with a zesty red fruit and mineral fade. This wine pairs perfectly with bold flavored tapas and entrees.

On the white side of things, we have two wines based on the ‘Albarino’ grape from the Rias Baixas region of Spain. The Albarino is considered to be Spain’s best white wine producing grape. Offering intense aromas of almonds, apples, peaches and flowers. Not meant to be aged too long, these wines offer peak flavor early on.

The Brandal Albarino 2007 from Adegas D’Altamira received 90 points from ‘Wine and Spirits Magazine’, and 88 points from ‘The Wine Advocate’. The nose reveals aromas of lemon curd, citrus, and white peach leading to a medium-bodied wine with crisp mineral and white fruit flavors. Nicely balanced. Very refreshing, perfect with a lighter entree or tapa.

The Brandal Barrica 2006, also from Adegas D’Altamira, received an 89 rating from Robert Parker. It offers a medium intensity, with lovely pear and white fruit flavors, a nicely balanced acidity and a wonderfully long and dry finish. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to any of our seafood or pasta dishes, and would be wonderful with and of the more substantial tapas or salads.

Come on by and try a few of these wonderful wines along with some of our our Tapas!
